I am just going to go ahead and spill the beans: it’s Buffet from The Ordinary.
I have never ever used something with such a visible and quick effect and I cannot wait to try some more products by this amazing brand.
The Ordinary is one of the brands from Deciem, a very young but amazing company that calls itself “The abnormal beauty company”. They have a couple of brands of which I only know The Ordinary. Their slogan is “Clinical formulations with integrity.” But let me tell you there is nothing ordinary about this brand. Their product lineup is mostly serums and they have a very pharmaceutical look. White, minimalistic with most of the serums coming in eyedropper form, which I love! Dosage and application is a dream. They also have some foundations, sunscreens, and oils but the main focus are serums.
Another totally out of the ordinary thing are the prices. I have yet to find a product from The Ordinary that costs more than $15, while most are even less than $10. At $14.80 Buffet is one of the pricier ones. But don’t let the price fool you. The products are of incredible quality and this incredible price-performance ratio has made the range an instant hit. So naturally, I had to try this miraculous brand even though it’s not sold around here. I made a wish-list of five products and sent my partner, who was in Boston on business at the time, to the nearest Sephora. They only had one of the five (which tells you something about how in demand is their stuff) and it was Buffet.
Buffet is a peptide serum. Actually, it’s a combination of multiple peptide complexes with an addition of probiotics, amino acids, and hyaluronic acids. Basically a powerhouse. All these ingredients are targeted towards anti-aging but what it did for me is also something else. It virtually eliminated any redness I had and now my skin looks like I’m wearing at least a BB cream already. Previously my skin was a shade or two darker around my nose and on my chin, but now this difference in tonality is barely visible. According to instructions you’re supposed to apply this morning and night after cleansing but I only do it once a day. And the results are still amazing. If my skin is really really dry like after a shower or something, this stings a bit right after application but the stinging sensation fades when it is completely absorbed.
I wish I had a before picture to show you the difference but I have found exactly zero pictures of me without any makeup. I did, however, make a selfie this morning to show you how my skin looks these days.
This is first thing in the morning. I haven’t even washed my face yet. No filters, no retouching. But with quite a flattering morning light 🙂
I have dry combination skin but it has been crazy dry since I had my daughter. So I’m thinking the next thing I try from the ordinary is going to be something moisturizing, like a hyaluronic acid serum. But I’m dying to go the retinol route as well and some vitamin C has never hurt anybody. So there you have it – dilemma! If we’re talking specific products, this is my new wishlist:
Have you tried any of these? What do you think?
