Remember when constantly carrying a baby brought my upper back pain back? It made me remember the times when it happened to me in the past and I wrote a guide on how to manage it. I listened to my own advice and started doing all the necessary steps but when you can’t get rid of the source of the problem, fixing it is just a constant battle.
This was exactly my case. Breastfeeding a baby means constant slouching unless you’re really careful or you do it lying down. And carrying around a baby means leaning to one side. Especially if you always use the same arm as I do. Together it’s recipe for disaster.
So I did my stretching every day but still wasn’t enough. Then I decided I should listen to myself some more and try a posture corrector. This doesn’t really help with leaning to one side. All I could do about that was to actively try and change the arm that I was carrying the little one with to balance it out. But the slouching is another story. There is help for that.
So I tried one but it was seriously uncomfortable and I just returned it after a couple of days. And while I was looking for another model and the one I picked wasn’t available it dawned on me that I should just make my own. So I did.
It took some time and I definitely had some ups and downs but I made it! It’s available on Amazon and it’s awesome! I actually tried a lot of different models while getting samples in addition to the ones I bought for myself originally and the one I ended up with is by far the softest and most comfortable. But this does not mean it doesn’t do its job though. So I’m very very happy about it. And I really hope it works for you too if you decide to go check it out and try it.
I started wearing it for like 20 minutes a day and extended it to an hour in about a week. I stuck with the one hour per day for a couple of weeks even though I could have easily had it on longer, it’s no problem at all. But it worked! I quickly discovered that the point of these posture correctors is not to keep you straight. I mean they do but they do not force your posture.
Back posture correctors make slouching uncomfortable and make you work for your good posture. So good posture quickly becomes a habit, you develop muscle memory and then without even knowing it one day you just start standing (and sitting) straight on your own. Which is why it is so important that you choose a model that is comfortable in the correct position. If it’s uncomfortable both slouching and standing straight there is no incentive to do better, is there?
Go try one now and you will see what I mean. Actually, go and try mine! It’s entirely made of breathable neoprene and I promise it’s the softest one you will find. It’s also pretty thin so you can easily wear it under your clothes if you decide to take it to the office for example.

This whole entrepreneurial journey has been a game changer for me. Definitely a step out of my comfort zone. A leap even. But even though it’s not a success yet it makes me feel proud and taller. And if it fails in the end, I’ll still be taller from my good posture.
